This is an adaptation of a tale from the Mi’kmaq- an Algonquin Indian tribe from the Canadian Maritimes. This version of the story comes from Algonquin Legends of New England (1884), edited by Charles Godfrey Leland, and visual references are strongly informed by the CBC documentary series Mi’kmaq (1982). A Chenoo is a giant and terrible monster, in the same manner as a wendigo or yeti.
